Greetings and welcome to the Fremont County Republican Party (FCRP)
website. Different people participate in a political party for
different reasons and some reasons are better than others. I want to
offer you a big, compelling reason to participate in the FCRP: the
Grand Old Party stands for fundamental principles that, if
implemented, will lead to a strong America — strong militarily,
economically, and morally.
Inspection will show that the Grand Old Party honors the
founders of our Country and regard their vision for the country to be
one for the ages – and not relevant only to the era which the founders
lived. They were deliberate and wise in conceiving a Constitution that
inherently limits the role of the federal government. Posted on this
website are the FCRP Platforms (our County party’s position on state
and local issues) and Resolutions (our County party’s position on
national issues). Upon careful examination, you will find the spirit
of limited government and respect for the Constitution running
throughout.
The Grand Old Party also embraces individual liberty. It is
freedom that enables the individual to follow their inherent impulse to
pursue happiness. Socialism necessarily stands in opposition. The
latter has prior commitment to the supremacy of the state and
equalizing outcomes. I can understand the appeal of big government:
there is a promise that if you will give up some measure of your
liberty, your needs will be met. History shows, however, that the
promised material provisions turn out to be woefully inadequate and the
loss of freedom proves to be demoralizing.
If you are a socialist (you may call it progressive, liberal or
other things if you wish), I personally respect your freedom of thought
and desire happiness and well-being for you. I also think socialist
ideals will not lead to a strong America and are stifling to the human
spirit. If you are unswervingly committed to such propositions, the
Grand Old Party is not for you. However, if the ideals of the Grand
Old Party are the same as your view of things, then I ask you to
consider helping out in ways that are comfortable to you and urge you
to stay informed.
As you consider involvement, I request forbearance and that you
keep several things in mind. One is that needs within the party will
change over time. Another is that the party structure is made up of
volunteers. Volunteers are busy people with limited time; they are
trying to raise a family, run a business, and squeeze in a little
fishing up in the mountains.
So you may wonder: if there is no money to be made and loss of free
time, why volunteer? Why contribute at all? One big reason is that the
ideals are worth it. The Grand Old Party seeks to conserve those
things that have made us strong and to oppose those things that weaken
us. Another big reason is that it is also a civic duty. The power ultimately rests with the
people. If people do not participate in government, there will always
be the unaccountable who will be happy to make decisions for you.
Again, welcome to the FCRP website.
Chairman Perry Marple
